Another great photo from my friend (who took the previous Sashiko workshop from me). I was so happy to hear she is enjoying “stitching” itself. She even told me that she sometimes stitch for the purpose of stitching (not making something). When we learn how to stitch Sashiko the way we practice, we can fully enjoy the process of stitching. Of course, it is important to focus on the result – how beautiful we can make things. However, it is the Sashiko I sincerely prefer when the stitcher can put their emotion (this time, “joy”) to the stitching. They are wonderful stitching results, and I am proud of her (& myself for being able to share with her that.) ☆
When we focus on the result, we compare ourselves to the others in “how beautiful they are.” Some feel superior and other feel inferior. It is natural as the human nature. However, when we focus on the joy in the process, every results has its “completion” and no one (include oneself) will judge that. That is the Sashiko we would like to share, the Sashiko we enjoy the result as well as the process of stitching.
