I gave a shot to broadcast me talking by myself on Youtube last night… and it was a challenge! I talked about the Boro, the front side and back side, with sharing the video of our actual Boro Jacket we have been continuously working on. I hope my explanation made sense.

A dialogue is much easier to maintain in comparison to the self-talk. I can do the better job when I have the audience to talk to, by adjusting what I say by seeing their faces (like my workshop). However, anything can be so challenging for the first time. I personally love & respect stand-up comedians. The laugh (preferably non-harmful joke) is the best thing the human can have. I believe that the Japanese who made Boro had some fun time laughing out loud in a circle. Some Boro pieces just represent the joy they had. (Some of course shows some negative feeling, but they are both good). Practice makes it better, so I will keep on going. The live streaming is available on Youtube Channel. You can get the link from our profile. ☆

Another great photo from my friend (who took the previous Sashiko workshop from me). I was so happy to hear she is enjoying “stitching” itself. She even told me that she sometimes stitch for the purpose of stitching (not making something). When we learn how to stitch Sashiko the way…

Among many kinds of Sashiko thread, I used only a few kinds of thread. To enrich the color availability, I added another thread which is almost identical to the thread I use. Then, 2 years ago, in order to encourage Sashiko fans to use the “Sashiko thread” instead of “whatever…

If you are new here and our Youtube Channel, you may find me stitching only (mainly) on Indigo Dyed Fabric with White Thread. Because of these visuals, you may think that I am very “traditional” and “conservative” in Sashiko. In reality, I am the opposite. I like the combination of…

It’s a very good video. It was a surprise to learn that even your own elderly family would not speak about their Boro making. I am grateful to you for giving them honor by your work.
