We will have the new imperial era starting 1st of May. Japan has announced that the name “Reiwa – 令和” for this coming era. The each Japanese character has several meanings. “signifying order and harmony” would be the general translation, but I would like to add a bit. Rei:令 as the prefix letter to respect others and Wa: 和 as a term to be “understanding” others.
☆
We now celebrate the diversity. The Japan, a kind of racially homogeneous nation, isn’t as developed as the other nations in diversity, accepting the difference (I guess). I hope, the new imperial era will be the time of respecting & understanding others so we can be happy with who we are.
☆
Here is the Sashiko stitched “Reiwa” with a lot of caring & sharing (since I did it on Live Streaming). ☆
Thank you so much for watching!”

Please read what I write with your best mindful status (not quick scanning). I love analogies & I try my best. However, it may filter something important. One important essence of Japanese culture is to read between the lines. Getting a message from what is NOT written. Since it is…

On top of making “one of a kind” Jackets and bags, we also make the popular “Sashiko-like” items such as placemats with Asanoha-Patterns. They are all hand-made, so there isn’t the exactly the same items. However, making the very similar design with very simmilar quality is another important aspect in…

What I share here may be pretty “shocking” to your common sense. It is okay if you do not understand it first. We have a word for your experience – “Culture Shock”. Thanks to the Internet, we do not need to travel to other countries to experience it (only when…

You and I have the same name. Although not sure what character you use, nonetheless, the same name. I also do not live in Japan. Now, I have lived in America longer than I have lived in Japan. Tha Japan is, indeed, very racially homogeneous. I love that part of Japan. Not many countries are that way any more. I do, at the same time, accept and respect diversity and RESPECTING each other’s differences, the latter, I see less and less these days. Nothing wrong with being different and having a different views and beliefs. Although the name Reiwa is not my favourite, I hope the new period to be a brilliant and a long one.💗🇯🇵
