Photos from Keiko’s Sashiko exhibition in Ninzaburou Cafe, exhibited last month. Sashiko items in unique atmosphere to keep the Interior from Japanese farming history enhanced the exhibition very well. It was a pleasure to have this opportunity to introduce Sashiko in such a beautiful “re-formed farm house cafe”.

Sashiko existed in ordinary days of the ordinary Japanese. Therefore, the Sashiko pieces fits so well to the antique interior in a shop. One day, it is our dream to share these “conclusive atmosphere of Japanese in Showa-era (1926 – 1989)”

Both of them are good old saying and very true. However, in todays’ society where we can “see” and…

In Sashiko (and many other hand-crafting), the stitching (work/opus) reflects who the stitcher (maker) is. The pieces are like the mirror of the makers themselves. So I decided to make Sashiko stitches on the Vintage Apron… and the fabric is so thick that my fingers are in pain. It will take longer than I thought, but I will keep stitching. 2017-11-01 10:51:04 Source
