We are working on the pattern printed fabric for the Spring. The newsletter is the first message you will receive when it comes to the new items, so please subscribe one from our website. ☆
After my daughter’s birthday, tomorrow 3/16, I will start working on preparing the workshop in NYC for April 13th and 14th. We still have a few seats available for our Sashiko Workshop (Core & Basic), in which I will share the core of Sashiko, Unshin – the needle movement. I can say that it will be an eye-opening experience for you.

Sashiko isn’t about making the beautiful stitches or stitching faster than the others. However, by learning the appropriate posture and how to focus on the rhythm, we can stitch faster and be mindful much easier. It is like a slicing vege with good knife. A good chef won’t try to slice a piece by measuring it. He/she gets a thin sliced vege by using knife with rhythm. I believe that I can share how to do it in Sashiko, in our Sashiko Workshop.

Boro is not the word for Mending Technique.

Boro is not the word for Mending Technique. Sashiko is not the word for Geometric Pattern. “I” personally think Sashiko is not an Art (as of now).  ☆ These statements may surprise you. They may be different from the Sashiko/Boro you already know. However, they are the real voices from…

As you may have learned, a big picture of Sashiko history is already lost. The Sashiko we practice today is more like a “revived version” of Sashiko stitching thanks to my grandparents generation (like around 80 years old now). They are the last generation of Japanese who actually received the…

I believe one core essence of Sashiko is “Communication via needle & thread to myself” – and “Dialogue via fabric to memories (others)”.
