Keiko is a fantastic Sashiko artisan (Designer & creator of Sashiko stitching). I even think she is a genius. A lot of my friends say that she is a lovely person. I brought her NYC last year, and it was a great time together with Keiko and my workshop graduates. They were chatting so loudly although they don’t speak the same language. They became friends almost instantaneously. And of course, she is a nightmare for me because I am her son. The SashiCo project is an interesting duet by Keiko and Atsushi.

About 4 years ago, when we just started SashiCo, I asked her to give me her profile photo. She said she would send it to me in a week or so. Then, she gave me this photo… why… Mary Poppins. Our goal is to introduce the Sashiko we enjoy. At the same time, I would like to introduce this interesting & very talented individual, Keiko Futatsuya, to the world.

ワードプレスの更新通知があって、ふと昔、恵子さんと二人で作ったウェブサイトの存在を思い出しました。まだインスタグラムも配信も始める前。SashiCoを始めたばかりで、後ろ盾も親父も失って、まるで刺し子の世界に二人しかいないかのように、刺し子について語り夢を膨らませていた頃。「作るのが本職だとしても、今後は伝える技術も必要だから、思いは文章にして練習しようよ」と始めた恵子さんのブログ。久々に読み返したら、まぁ面白いこと。日曜の夜の貴重な時間が潰れてしまいました。

改めて恵子さんにお願いして、このブログは続けていこうと思っています。SashiCoを知ってもらうということは、つまりは恵子さんを知ってもらうという話で。刺し子作家としては天才だと思っています。一生敵わないだろうとすら思っています。友達だったら、一緒にいてこんな楽しい人はいないだろうなぁと感じています。問題は、そんな天才肌で面白い人が実の母親だってことで……。武勇伝（笑い話）は尽きません。常に想像の斜め45度です。（写真は、SashiCoのプロフィール写真頂戴！ってお願いしたら送られてきたものです。なぜ……なぜ、メリーポピンズ？）ブログ、良かったらこちらからどうぞ → http://keiko.atsushijp.com
