A child watching and enjoying the stitching with sitting down next to a grandma

atsushijp, 2019年2月22日

A child watching and enjoying the stitching with sitting down next to a grandma (mother) on one evening. That is how the ordinary stitching culture was passed down to the next generation. So is Sashiko. In a process of sharing Sashiko, I would like to follow the original image as much as I can. So, I share the “not-edited and not-modified” Sashiko stitching. The Sashiko Live Streaming we share is the Sashiko stitching by a Sashiko stitcher living today. Here is a result of Sashiko stitching, Asanoha-pattern, after 5~6 hours of fun stitching.
☆
3 Hours of Sashiko live streaming on a busy Friday morning. I don’t learn from the past. Well, I have been under the weather for last couples of days, and stitching with sharing the feeling helped me out to keep my head up. At some points, I was even talking to the needle and thread 😀 I will try to edit the video so you will get a short version of me stitching this piece. ☆

Getting ready for the Sashiko Workshop next week in Lewisburg, PA. Up on a request, I offer the Sashiko workshop (mostly private – but happy to announce to make it semi-private & shared workshop) in the town where I live. A good part of workshop in Lewisburg is that I…

Keiko’s latest work, Boro-inspired blanket. Patchworking vintage fabric with “Square patchwork like stitching” makes this item so unique and beautiful. ☆ (Re-) making the Boro (which valued in the museum and such) is very difficult project because it requires a process of “using it and mending it”. Patching the vintage…

I say the Sashiko with Cherry Picking “can” destroy the original form. It sounds pretty dramatic. It’s only recent that I started using the word “Destroy”. Let me share my perspective on this. ☆ Sashiko is now known as “Visible Mending”. It is true that Mending is an important part…
