A child watching and enjoying the stitching with sitting down next to a grandma

atsushijp, 2019年2月22日

A child watching and enjoying the stitching with sitting down next to a grandma (mother) on one evening. That is how the ordinary stitching culture was passed down to the next generation. So is Sashiko. In a process of sharing Sashiko, I would like to follow the original image as much as I can. So, I share the “not-edited and not-modified” Sashiko stitching. The Sashiko Live Streaming we share is the Sashiko stitching by a Sashiko stitcher living today. Here is a result of Sashiko stitching, Asanoha-pattern, after 5~6 hours of fun stitching.
☆
3 Hours of Sashiko live streaming on a busy Friday morning. I don’t learn from the past. Well, I have been under the weather for last couples of days, and stitching with sharing the feeling helped me out to keep my head up. At some points, I was even talking to the needle and thread 😀 I will try to edit the video so you will get a short version of me stitching this piece. ☆

While talking to many (rising) Sashiko artisans in Japan, I started seeing a boundary between what we are trying to do & what the other “Sashiko Teachers” are doing. I have been trying to explain the difference in “teaching” as a professional or as a guide. However, it didn’t explain…
