I always use “Asanoha” when I teach Sashiko in our Sashiko Workshop (Core & Basic). Sashiko isn’t only about filling the patterns with stitching. The beautiful pattern with many stitches are just a result of Sashiko. In order to explain & share & teach Sashiko, Asano-ha is the best pattern because of several reasons. ☆
Atsushi’s Workshop is coming on this saturday, Feb 16th in Purl Soho NYC. It is the best way to learn the Sashiko “Running Stitch” and enjoy Sashiko stitching more. Check our video (in previous posts) what I mean by running stitch. I will teach you how to let the needle run with you.

While a society shout out the importance of “productivity” as if they can price someone’s life based on “value” they produce, Sashiko stands on the completely opposite side of “being productive”. What do we want by achieving higher “productivity”, and “winning” in a capitalistic society? It is probably the “comfortable days…

Clean Carpet Smell. Shining Floor. Fresh Baked Bread. I am glad that the “precious ordinary” resonates with many of you. Happiness is not something to win, it is something to realize (in the ordinary). It took so many years & excruciating (embarrassing) detours for me to realize the importance of…

“Share Sashiko”. “Pass down the Sashiko culture”. It is easy to say, but quite difficult to make it happen. I have a 30 years long strategy (toward 2050) – to pass down the Sashiko, based on my 10 years in Sashiko business. The core of this strategy is to raise…
