“All hand stitched… Wow. You must be a patient person.” When I nexplain what I do, many people think of me as a special person who is extra patient in things. In fact, I am not a patient person at all, and simply enjoying the process of Sashiko.

I have spent about 10 hours on this Jacket. Probably 20 hours to go. “Well, if it is 10 or 20 hours of work, you must be patient” you may think. It is because you think Sashiko as the “difficult work” to do. It is true when I work for someone’s commission because of the pressure and time-frame. However, when I enjoy Sashiko for myself, like the one on Live Streaming, I feel 10 or even 100 hours of stitching as nothing. I enjoy being mindful when I do Sashiko. (You can find many hours of Live Streaming, which doesn’t allow me to edit anything so it is who I am.)

It is my goal to introduce Sashiko. At the same time, I would like to share the enjoyment of needle movement for Sashiko, so-called Unshin. ☆ 「手刺し……果てしなく根気がいる作業だね」と言われることもあるのですが、運針をしていると案外根気も根性もいらないなというのが本音です。これだけ大きな作品でも、配信等で話しながら刺し子をしていると、ずーっと楽しいまま形になります。この法被は配信でしか刺し子をしていないので、ここまでで10時間超くらいかなと。後、20時間も刺せば完了です。

10時間、20時間と聞くと、「やっぱり果てしないじゃない」と思われるかもしれませんが、運針をしているとあっという間に時間がたつのです。これは本当に不思議。刺し子を広めたい……というのが、勿論根本的な願いですが、同時に運針の楽しさも伝えていけたら良いなと思っています。

カッコイイですー。みんなでおしゃべりして笑いながらチクチクしてると案外時間て早くすぎるし、針も進みますよねー。
本当にカッコいい。運針してると時間を忘れてしまいますよね。ちょっとだけのつもりがすぐ1時間とか経ってて焦ることあります🤣
素敵、カッコいい〜！！よく飽きずにやってるね。と言われることがあるけど、楽しくてしかたない♫飽きる時が来る気がしません！
