For the first time, we are offering the “short version” workshop focusing on Denim Mending. I wanted to try, before offering the workshop, that I can complete a small Denim Mending with Sashiko with in an hour or so. In order to get the core of Sashiko, I believe the person need at least 2 hours of stitching. This workshop is focusing on how to do mending rather than doing Sashiko, yet introducing the Sashiko Mending. I will be a part of @the75Collective Pop-up. 「デニム補修に焦点を当てて、短いワークショップを」という希望から、今回初挑戦する、70分の超短いワークショップがあります。「敢えて運針を教えない」ことによって実現したものですが、さてさてどうなることやら。刺し子をする以上運針に拘るのが僕のポリシーですが、デニム補修には刺し子じゃなくていいじゃん？という挑戦でもあります。大尊敬している友人のイベントでの依頼だから企画したっていうのが本音ですけどね。

70分と短期で時間を区切っている以上、講師が70分以内で補修できないとまずいだろう……とビデオ撮影してみました。本編はYoutubeに上がっています。だいたい50分くらいで、下書きからデニムに補修するまでできました。これで、少しでも刺し子を知ってくれる人が増えてくれれば良いなぁと思うのです。
