The project of “Sashiko x Pastel Color Sashiko Thread”. I kept saying that I wasn’t sure if this was a good idea. Some Japanese friend (& mostly myself) thought it was someting “off” but other non-Japanese friends strongly encouraged me to keep doing it. I felt a bit unsettled when I wore them by myself, but after my friend wore it, I made up my mind. This is COOL 😀 ☆
The Japanese, including myself, have very stubbern idea of Sashiko. We try to be creative and doing something outside of a box. Yet, we have tradition in so deep. It isn’t bad thing to have tradition so strongly. I respect that & myself. It is my privilage to share Sashiko in the USA and that I can learn from the students. Thank you!
☆

Getting ready for the Sashiko Workshops in NYC over the weekend of 4/21&4/22. I will bring some good fabric from Japan (Vintage & Non-Vintage) available for purchase to the workshop participants. Workshop. 2018-04-13 16:40:04 Source

Feels like both traditional and “non-traditional” can coexist.

It’s so beautiful. You inspire me every day. I think both the traditional things and the bold new things have a place in our artwork. Thank you for sharing this with us.
