Sashiko Fukin (=Dish Cloth) is very common in Sashiko in Japan. It is one of the beginner’s project.
★
“The true beauty of Sashiko is in the ordinary days.” It is the origin & core concept of Sashiko. However, with sincere respect to the origin, I would like to try if Sashiko can be the part of Art. 2 kinds of challange. One with 2 shades of Indigo Dye. One with 2 kinds of beautiful Pastel Color Sashiko Thread.

刺し子の定番のふきん。海外ではあまり「一般的」ではありません。ふきんという言葉も、晒という材料も一般的じゃないからかな?
★
「刺し子はアートになりうるか」という自問自答への答えとして、当たり前のふきんに、少しだけ工夫をしてみました。藍染二色の立体感、あるいはパステルの色合い感。さてさて。ふきんはふきんですが、どうなることやら。「生活の中にある刺し子こそ原点」であることは承知し、尊重し、尊敬しつつ、また違うことを見つめるのも一つの大切な活動だと思うのです。
