One of the happiest news we can celebrate is from a customer with wearing what we make for them. Among many types of interpretation of Sashiko, we believe the fundamental beauty of Sashiko exists in a process (day) of “using” it. Therefore, we make Noragi (Workman style Jacket) and bags mainly – not mainly something in the frame for hanging and displaying.

YoSokuBi. If you are interested in the Japanese Folk Art, this word is a must word to understand. It is like cheese on pizza. It is like Unshin in Sashiko. Without it, it feels something is missing on what we are doing (or eating). Anyone can enjoy their own stitching. We keep on sharing the Sashiko we are proud of.

Forever in-progress Sashiko Denim. Interestingly, both Keiko and me, cannot focus on only one Sashiko projects. We would need several, sometimes more than 5 or so, projects to keep our brains fresh. This denim still have uncompleted part to be Asanoha pattern, yet I believe it is okay to not…

A few months ago, NYT  Magazine wrote a column from the interview with me. I shared how I would “mend” items. I thought it would be easier to show the process in addition to my interview. The pants with Sashiko mending are completed after 10 hours or so of stitching….

I cannot seem to find in my Japanese dictionary 😅 Is it, “finding beauty in doing a task”? If so, it makes sense when doing sashiko! (I am trying to get better at 運針 as well…) Thank you for posting your beautiful works and all your wisdom!
