This Sunday (5/2 5pm GMT), I am joining @textiletapes to share about the Sashiko we have been practicing. It is about an hour long Live Streaming focusing on textiles with students at the V&A/RCA (@vamuseum). It is my sincere pleasure to share my experience with the future of textile. I hope I can go back to school one day… Now, I gotta save money & I would like to take care of family first (I know many complete their academics with taking care of families. It is merely my choice with understanding my  capacity.)

☆

As you know, I try to be “extra difficult” on SNS. It is because some people easily cross the boundaries and keep hurting me with good intention. However, it doesn’t mean that I will bark at anyone at any point. When I receive a proper introduction & greeting, I would be happy to do what I can do. “Hey, tell me what Sashiko is!” will not get them what they want. I am not Google. Just remember the time when we were somewhat polite. Before the cellphone, when you have to call the landline to your (girl/boy) friend, you would never know who would pick up the phone – can be her father. It won’t hurt to be extra polite regardless of the culture (especially it is important in Japanese culture).

☆

Please check my website for what I can do (for commission, contribution, & interviews). If it is for an academic purpose, I will do my best without asking fees. It will be an interesting time to share the Sashiko with answering questions from current students. I hope they won’t freeze me with big questions like “what do you think about the fashion pollution” (I got this kind of big question at FIT before).

I wish I could simplify my stories into a word. Then, I can probably “market” the Sashiko better. However, “marketing“ isn’t my goal. I share the significance of Sashiko – which is not yet introduced in English. A series of stories going on and on. ☆ “Marketing” is sophisticated human-behavior…

Another day of editting photos. Sashiko with Natural Dye thread and vintage fabric look really good in the sun light. Beautiful one of a kind piece. 撮影した写真の編集日。 草木染めと古布で作る作品は、陽の光の中でバグツンのコントラストになるのです。 2017-03-29 10:58:48 Source

This is a piece I started last year in 24-hours Sashiko stitching. I hoped to do the same this year, but it will be canceled (postponed). When we introduce this kind of “big” Sashiko, people say, “Wow, but I cannot do that big piece. I don’t have that much patience.”…
