I have been stitching Sashiko on denim for about 15 years now. Some say it is so much work to do – because of the amount of stitching and the thickness of denim. Yes, it is pretty intense labor when I come to think of it, but it isn’t something extraordinary. I believe anyone can do so & there are quite many who enjoy the same so casually.
☆
I wouldn’t say this is a weekend project. However, it isn’t a one year project either. Probably a month… if I can focus on stitching – and if I do not have to worry about making my ends meet & house chores… then probably a week to 10 days may be enough. The key here is “the Form” of how to enjoy Sashiko – not many people are teaching in English, but once they get the Form properly, it is just a matter of finding time & a TV-Series last long for 100 hours or so (as I & many others stitch while watching TV or listening to something).

Once again, anyone can do this type of Denim. I have said it so many times to so many people, and after 8 years of teaching, I can say this with confidence because so many have proven my words. They start it with very humbleness, then find out it wasn’t something “crazy”. I stopped “Commission Work” because I want them to make it by themselves. Sashiko is already in the process of adding stories, and I am here to teach “how to stitch on the Denim”.

Please consider my Online Class [Core & Essence], or 3-Day/5-Days in person workshop. For the longer In-person Workshop, we actually have hours to stitch on the denim together. I believe this one time investment is worthwhile because you are learning a Life-Long technique & wisdom. Please consider learning Sashiko from an actual Sashiko Practitioner from Japan!

I’ve also found that denim tends to break down while you stitch, so it gets easier to work with. And your fingers’ skin harden the more you stitch on denim as well)
