Next Day of the Live Streaming with an allergic reaction to something, I ended up having a fever… like Flu symptoms. Well… I wasn’t expecting this, so I spent as much time as I can be awake for Sashiko – I wasn’t well enough to do some brainwork or outside labor, but Sashiko was there for me to sit & stitch.
☆
I used to think that Sashiko was a waste of time. Now, interestingly, I choose to hold a needle to avoid feeling guilty for not doing anything – I enjoy Sashiko so as not to waste time. Once we get used to the “Rhythm”, Sashiko becomes a part of ordinary days. We can stitch without using the brain or whole body parts. All we need is the strength to sit up, and move our hands. Sashiko isn’t something we need some fancy preparation for.
☆
Sashiko introduced in English is, unfortunately, simplified and romanticized. Those who introduce Sashiko without proper understanding of Sashiko & its Japaneseness slice off some of the most important parts of Sashiko, and signify a minor part of Sashiko for their profit & convenience. Sashiko is more than how it is introduced in English – and I am trying my best to explain/describe that in English.
☆
Many have found the difference & their own way to approach (appreciate) the culture of Sashiko. I will keep sharing our Sashiko Story so that we can preserve this interesting stichery culture.

My friend gets flu-like symptoms every time he gets the flu shot.
Maybe you have the same constitution.
I sometimes get a fever from hay fever.
Please take care of yourself..
Hope you are feeling better. Stitching is meditative 🪡
