It is another honor to announce that I will be teaching at 2025 in Phoenix. @themqg released the schedules. Please visit their website to check out amazing workshops & lectures.
☆
It is my 5th year in QuiltCon as a faculty, teaching something outside of Quilting. When I submit a faculty application, I always wonder first if what I can offer is suitable for the Modern Quilting World. Isn’t it kind of crazy that I am offering the exact same workshop for 5 years straight? Well… Sashiko is the only thing I can teach.
☆
This year, though, I decided to go outside of my comfort zone a little bit. I will bring my Domestika Course contents to the In-Person Workshop. It won’t be the same contents of Domestika Course, but it will be much more “relaxed” than the one I offer as [Core & Essence]. I will not force you to learn the “Form” I try to pass down.
☆
At the same time, I am happy that I can offer [Core & Essence], which is a pretty intensive learning opportunity rather than “Let’s Enjoy Sashiko Together”. One can take both, or this time, neither of them have prerequisites.
☆
I feel so fortunate to offer another lecture, too. In the last 2 lectures, I received the same question, [Why are you doing/teaching Sashiko (if you didn’t like it in your childhood)?]. I will talk about it in this lecture. It is based on my personal story… but I am pretty confident that the story can resonate with anyone who loves stitching. It is my pleasure to offer an opportunity to embrace “why you stitch” while sharing “why I stitch” – and conclude as the answer to “Why We Stitch”.

A piece of mindfood to share. Have you thought about the “condition” when one (cultural) practice would be buried in history? Is it when the last artisan/craftsman decided to quit practicing their art/craft? Or when the artisans/craftsmen cannot make their ends by working in their profession? Both cases can be…

This may be the first time to actually put it like this in 6 years… as it is uncomfortable for me to ask for specific help. I mention the help to refer to me, be mindful who to learn from, and acknowledge the stories. Today, I have a more specific…

Believe it or not, I am an introvert. I am too shy to talk to someone whom I don’t know well… so I apologize for “just eye-contact & smile” when you found me in QuiltCon. It is true me on the stage for lectures or right next students in the…
