Kakishibu… the Tannin from Japanese Persimmon. They squeeze the unripe green Persimmon to get the liquid, and then fermentate the liquid for the Dye. We call it “Sunny-Dye (Taiyouzome)” as the Sunlight affects the color of this dye. It is the Natural Dye that Keiko isn’t doing herself as preparing the liquid is very challenging. We ask the professional to Dye annually, and we finally got them ready for Online Shopping – Kakishibu Dye Sashiko thread – 4 colors from the 2023 batch are available now.
☆
Both UpcycleStitches.com and new store [Sashikostory.com] carry the same threads with the same price. I am working on improving the User Experience on our website using different services & different approaches. Your feedback to a Shopping Experience is always appreciated!
☆
*For Kakishibu Dye Sashiko Thread, it is very unlikely to have them restocked after Sold Out. Instead, we will wait for another year for another batch.

Each stitch is just “stitch” – a part of cotton threads led by needles going up and down the fabric. The accumulation of these “just stitches” will create beautiful patterns. At the same time, the beautiful pattern at the end of stitching isn’t the end of Sashiko – In fact,…

I have uploaded several tutorial videos on “How to Keep Your Sashiko Thread in a Good Shape”. I say out loud that the Sashiko Thread Matters: Not “any thread is fine” in Sashiko, especially if you would like to enjoy it & have a great result in maximum capacity.  ☆…
