We often receive a question about what is our recommendation to start learning Sashiko. The honest answer is the [Core & Essence] (both Online & In-Person) as it hands the most important things in Sashiko to the participants. At the same time, I want “everyone” to learn Sashiko regardless of what they have (or don’t have), where to live, and who they are. The Course on Domestika [Introduction to Japanese Sashiko] is now recommended to start learning the Sashiko we practice. After the course, whenever ready to learn more, [Core & Essence] would be a great opportunity to fully enjoy the Sashiko we practice.

There is nothing wrong with learning Sashiko with other materials such as books or online classes offered by non-Japanese. However, unfortunately, the Sashiko introduced (taught) in English is not “enough” (not wrong but insufficient). After going through a lot, we are finally “teaching” what we have as the Japanese Sashiko – not just a simplified version of Sashiko to satisfy someone’s instant gratification. Please consider learning from actual Japanese Sashiko Artisans.
