[Sashiko Thread Matters]. Some say that they can use any threads for Sashiko, and it doesn’t matter. Although it is true that they can use any threads for Sashiko, Thread Does Really Matter in Sashiko. It isn’t just thickness. It isn’t just materials. It is the layers of stories why we call it Sashiko Thread & We as Sashiko Artisans keep using them. It is our mission to keep it sustainable… although it has been quite challenging to do so.

I sometimes feel that the pandemic didn’t happen… Of course, it did, and it isn’t quite “over” yet. However, without masks, with normal interactions, I feel we are back to normal. However, some of the things vanished during the difficult time in the Pandemic. Some of the suppliers we depended on decided to close their business, too. It wasn’t a type of “Hard-Crash (like bankruptcy)”, but it is the pandemic that pushed them to decide the closure. I do not want to see them gone while they still have the ability to keep doing what they are proud of. What they produce is very good – it is just a matter of “not knowing” – which is lack of good strategy in marketing, lack of budget in advertisement, and simply “they are too artisans for that”.
☆
I want them to be proud of how much artisans they can be. So, I keep sharing the stories on their behalf – Thread Matters, and there are reasons we call it Sashiko. We offer Sashiko Threads that we use – we sell only what we use. Sashiko thread will make a significant difference in result, and more importantly “in a story toward the future”. The Online Store is located in Japan & USA – International shipping may be available based on the destination.

I recently learned that it is okay (or even better) to repeat the same message over and over. I used to avoid sharing the same story – as I thought it would make them bored. Then, some friends told me that there is always something new to learn from the…
