I want you (the world) to learn how to prepare the pattern on the fabric for Sashiko. At the same time, I understand the hassle to do so. It is time consuming, and more honestly, not so fun to do so in comparison to doing Sashiko (Sorry if you like preparing patterns!). Keiko and I occasionally, when we have enough funds, try to prepare the Indigo Dye Cotton fabric with our favorite patterns. One of the outcomes is now available in our shop with a very limited amount (4 panels of fabric as I used one…)

On Youtube Live Streaming, I am sharing all the process of stitching with a sample of choosing an interesting color. Including mistakes, you can find how I would stitch without any editing & filtering. I believe this decision of “Archiving” what I do is one contribution I can make to preserve the culture of Sashiko. As I make profit from buying bread by doing/sharing Sashiko, I carry the responsibility to preserve it with the most sincere respect to it.

The fabric is available on our webstore now. Please look for an item, [Keiko Design. Pattern Fabric (20)]. I really appreciate your support: When you buy an item, please support (choose) an artisan who practices/teaches Sashiko instead of choosing a merchant who practices/teaches Sashiko to sell their commodity. There is nothing wrong with making profit by selling “culture”. A merchant is better in marketing and such. However, please be noted, that the marchern will no longer offer the items when the trend is gone while the artisans will continue stitching regardless of what happens around. The whole process of making this Sashiko piece, and the reasons why we use our specific materials are shared in public, for free, so that we can make our wise decisions.

I share the importance of learning how to prepare the patterns on the Fabric. At the same time, I understand the troublesomeness (or even inconvenience) of doing so when we want to just focus on stitching. Every year, we try to choose (a) pattern(s) to be prepared on our Indigo…

Changing Colors in one thread is pretty fun in stitching. We restocked 5 kinds of “Variegated Sashiko Threads” (hoping to do so more), and I enjoyed using all 5 different Variegated Sashiko Threads. I am still not sure if this Furoshiki (Wrapping Cloth) is my favorite, but it is true…
