Our Sashiko Story to Your Sashiko Journey

Well, I am learning how to communicate our messages to the public. It is painful

atsushijp, 2022年3月24日

Well, I am learning how to communicate our messages to the public. It is painful to encounter “ignorance”. However, it doesn’t mean that we don’t need to improve our skill of “How to Speak up”. My goal is to have our voice heard (acknowledged), then trusting human decency to care. I cannot change those who acknowledge & then ignore intentionally for their profit or convenience. However, I can reach those who just “don’t know” it. If a Reel is a good vehicle to get me to the destination, I will learn how to ride.

☆

Sashiko is beautiful. It inspires many people very much. However, please do not romanticize Sashiko too much. It is after all the hand-stitching: the difference is that Sashiko is deeply linked to Japanese culture. So anyone can do it (but teaching as “Sashiko expert” will probably take a lot of “guts” to do because of its cultural link). We still make this type of masterpiece, with all hand-stitching, as the video shows. Since we can do it, you can do it, too. I know many who can do it now after learning Sashiko from us. Please learn “the Core & Essence” of Sashiko: then you will find the difference, as the step to make this kind of big item.

Winter is coming.

Winter is coming. I realize that a cartain would be a nice idea to insulate the house better. So, I am patchworking the white fabric I used to use for the decorating the table and some of the torn & ripped Pajamas I had (and kept for some reasons). ☆…

“Mingei” would be the next Japanese word to have spotlights. Or… it may already

“Mingei” would be the next Japanese word to have spotlights. Or… it may already be the word with so much inspiration & attention. Mingei is often translated into “FolkArt”. It is quite difficult to come up with one clear definition on what FolkArt is… but, one fact we all agree…

A simple design Sashiko bag with unique complex Sashiko stitching design.

A simple design Sashiko bag with unique complex Sashiko stitching design. Desigining Sashiko is pertty challenging. Imagination before stitching and result after stitching can be very different… therefore we have many choices of Sashiko thread, fabric, and ideas! 2017-10-01 12:46:15 Source
