Thank you for watching the Reel. “Speed” isn’t everything in Sashiko. However, please understand that I am NOT trying to stitch extra fast. This is the comfortable speed, and therefore we can create many beautiful Sashiko pieces. It is more difficult to stitch slowly. The Sashiko introduced in English isn’t wrong, but not sufficient. I talk about “Sashiko (in English that I realized by teaching in North America)” on @worldshiborinetwork as a part of a talk series organized by @yoshiko_wada_ . Please visit their account for the registration. (This talk does not include any teaching of Unshin, but I will briefly explain what it is).

☆

Please consider taking our Online Class, or inviting Atsushi to your local group (or your place), if your goal is to stitch like we do. It is costly in comparison to other Sashiko workshops such as “Learn how to prepare the pattern & let’s enjoy stitching together” because my class is an intensive learning experience. However, I will teach everything one needs to stitch at this speed of videos. Many have surpassed me… which makes me a good teacher, I believe.

☆

If you are new to Sashiko, try lots of free information on this account & Youtube. Then, come to one of the “talks” so that you can understand what is the difference. Then, consider classes to improve your skill & support what we try to pass down. Thank you.

Speaking of “if” is kind of sad, but if Covid-19 didn’t brough the pandemic, I would have departed from the US to Japan today, after 7 years of not going back to Japan, to see my Sashiko friends, with bringing my Sashiko friends from the US. I was so excited…

I roughly define Sashiko as the “Stitchery in the Japanese Ordinary by the Ordinary Japanese”. Many define Sashiko with specific patterns, technique, or design – but they are just part of what Sashiko really is. As the result of focusing on too much Western Value, the Sashiko introduced in English…

One of the “Core Philosophy” of Sashiko (or Japanese mindset) is Acceptance. We live in a moment falling from the “Future”, and become the “Past” via passing the “Present”. I like Sashiko because it is a practice of engraving the momentary Present into the fabric. I hope that all of…

I love how you iterate that it’s not wrong, it’s just not sufficient. The No Right(good), No Wrong (bad) mentality has helped so much in in life
