Sashiko isn’t rocket science, so anyone can learn it quite easily, even by just looking at someone stitching. My goal is to pass down the Sashiko we have been practicing & the Sashiko which has not yet been introduced in English sufficiently. Therefore, I share a number of videos online and offer a Live Streaming where anyone can learn our Sashiko without worries for fees.

At the same time, if you can afford it, please consider taking our Sashiko Class/Workshop. There are several reasons why I ask. (1) Copying is great, I recommend copying, but I want you to learn (copy) not only the technique but also the mindset. I find the difference of mindset is significant between Western & Japanese (Not good or bad, just different). (2) “Kata (Form)” is quite important in many Japanese practices (like martial arts), so is Sashiko. It is good to have a teacher to confirm Kata all the time. (3) When one “teaches/shares” others about their foreign culture (here Sashiko by non-Japanese teaching), I believe it is important to have alive (on-going) references from the culture there. Copying is great, but it may not explain the whole picture without proper understanding. Therefore, I am here to share the whole with sharing more Sashiko Stories & personal attention for those who take our class.

刺し子での運針は、そんなに難しいことではありません。見様見真似でもできるようになりますし、想像力を働かせてみると、昔の人達は家族内で、あるいは地域ないでその運針を伝えていったのだろうと思います（それが各地の刺し子の名前になっていたりします）。正解も間違いもない刺し子なので、自分が納得してりゃ良いんだろうと。

同時に「型」の大切さも感じます。「型」は堅苦しさを与えますが、同時に「誰でもできるようになるため」の知恵でもあります。だからこそ、真似る場合は、動きだけじゃなく向き合い方も真似て欲しい。そんな思いを込めて様々な場所で運針動画を出し、はたまた配信で未編集の生の運針をご紹介し、また直接お伝えする運針会を開催しています。運針で一番大切なことは、実は綺麗な針目を作ることじゃなかったりします。針目は慣れれば誰でも綺麗に揃ってきます。じゃーなんだ……？というのをご紹介するのが僕の役目なんだろうなと思っています。というわけで宣伝です（笑）3/14と4/2に運針会開催予定です。是非ご検討下さい〜。（運針会の皆様、ガンガン運針動画上げて下さいｗ）
