Our Sashiko Story to Your Sashiko Journey

Today, if you can, please sit down and stitch for a while. Just stitch. Stop sea

atsushijp, 2022年2月24日

Today, if you can, please sit down and stitch for a while. Just stitch. Stop searching for answers by asking Google & Alexa, and stop focusing on how we should be. Close your eyes. Feel the fabric, needle, and thread. Then, let the needle move to make stitches. Although I have been feeling great (emotional) pain in “Sashiko being whatever”, I would like to empty my consciousness today and rely on stitching. I am not suppressing my pain or emotion, it is just a moment to put all the mindful thoughts into what we have in front of us.
☆
In stitching, we can enhance our imagination – the power to care for others. We woke up with horrible news this morning. For me, it is happening over the Screens, but there are people there. My cousin in-law, who I have not met yet, is there. I don’t think it is time to justify anyone/anything. There is no need for “logical” answers within us. What we can do is “Imagine” and “seek for what we can do”, which is pretty much focusing on things in front of us since we do not have a miracle power to stop what is going on now.
☆
“Justice” is scary. When one feels they own the “Justice”, they can do the most cruel things. Justice often come from “looking for (the) answers”, and the only way to balance justice is our imagination (to others). If Sashiko can contribute to the world, it is the stitching with imagining/caring (others). If you feel uneasy stitching in silence, come to my Youtube Live Tonight (9 pm EST) where I will NOT talk about anything but Sashiko & stitching. We will stitch together & talk about something in front of us.

This is an archive of Sashiko Live Streaming in English, on Friday October 8nd. I appcreiate many good questions on both Youtube & Instagram. I believe I read out loud the question before I answer the question. I didn’t know the word & concept, “Cultural Appropriation”, until Spring of 2019….

New Challange with Sashiko & a bit more artistic design in comparison to the traditional Japanese Geometric Pattern. Working on vintage fabric & my denim. ★ Learning Sashiko doesn’t only mean learning the patterns. Sashiko requires a specific method to move a needle, and I teach the movement in workshops…

All of these traditional Sashiko will be one Denim Jeans after patching them together. ★ I mended most of my denim, yet wanted to do Sashiko with Denim Fabric. So I decided “repurpose” instead of “Mend”. Well… I am getting a bit nervous if I can do well for this…
