I appreciate the feedback that they like my writing – some even say it is like a poem. The instructor in the Writing Center (in Collage) will be proud of (or even surprised at) this feedback. Well. I am aware that my English isn’t very good in the most standard. My goal is to encourage readers to read between the lines. I want you to imagine (reflect) while reading what I share. If one looks for a quick answer, my writing is a scribble. If they think/imagine while reading, I hope they get something out of my stories. I don’t know what resonates with you, but I try my best to keep sharing.

The Sashiko I teach is like that. Needle Techniques, Skill, and Designs… all of them are important, but secondary. Of course, I teach all of them thoroughly. On top of that, I want them to learn how Sashiko may offer you a different perspective in life. That’s the beauty of learning something different, and Sashiko is indeed something new to those who aren’t familiar with Japanese culture.

I received a note that the 3-Days Workshop I am offering in Stuart, FL between 1/31 to 2/2 are just above the minimum enrollment. If you would like to learn what Sashiko really is for us, and make these 3-days available for Sashiko, I believe I can offer an “eye-opening” experience for you. It is rare to have this small group workshop for 3-days (it is rare to offer In-person workshop anyway in this pandemic). Well, I am sorry making this post an advertisement post. To be honest, I feel bad for the organizer who has been great in this pandemic. I would like to support this type of local studio as well. Your support, including spreading the words, would be appreciated! The link is available on my Story, or simply visit https://www.ayafiberstudio.com/ to look for Sashiko Workshop.

Among many kinds of Sashiko thread, I used only a few kinds of thread. To enrich the color availability, I added another thread which is almost identical to the thread I use. Then, 2 years ago, in order to encourage Sashiko fans to use the “Sashiko thread” instead of “whatever…

Started preparing for the workshop in November. First, I clean the space 🙂 The fabric with Hitomezashi fabric is so beautiful even if they are small swatches. It is certainly Mottainai (too good to waste) material. 2017-09-27 10:24:11 Source

I appreciate all of your supportive comments. I do acknowledge there is a (silent) audience in front of me, and without you (them), I would have stopped sharing stories so long ago. I know you are there – therefore, I am here. However, unfortunately, the pain cannot be determined by…

Thank you for offering a comprehensive approach to Sashiko. For me, the meditative aspect of fiber arts has always been integral and inseparable from the end result. I do wish I lived closer to Florida so that I could take advantage of this workshop.

I had hoped I could attend and looked into the details. Sadly, my current circumstances requiring travel won’t allow for this rare opportunity. I’ve sent it onto a textile artist friend who is in Florida, I hope she can go or will spread the word. It means so much that you are coming to do this! Were it not for the virus I could have done this. Don’t lose heart, you are a real draw for people, but the circumstances and Florida’s issues are a complicating factor. Those who do attend are in for an amazing experience, I am sure.
