“Rhythm”. One of the most important elements of my Sashiko teaching. I am very happy to see my friends who learned Sashiko from me are applying this sort of “foreign” idea to their own stitching. I teach “How to” in my Sashiko Class (Both Online & In-person). If one watches my Live Streaming long enough (probably 100+ hours or so…), then I believe they will start getting the ideas.
☆
“Rhythm” doesn’t mean to be “precise”. Although it is extremely important to follow someone’s rules, I want a player (stitcher) to enjoy their own choice. It is strange that those who shout for the “whatever is fine” are the type who care for the rules. The one who understands the rules, yet tries to add their own interpretation barely says “whatever”. For that, “Rhythm” isn’t something to look for… it is something to “realize (be mindful)” with proper form. Doesn’t this sound like some other Japanese cultural practice?
☆
Please learn what you may be missing in Sashiko. My voice isn’t so loud & it is very slow, but it is surely accumulating. There are a LOT after 2 years of struggling. Sashiko is probably more than what you may know.

Once, in its history, Sashiko was very close to the Japanese Ordinary. For more than 300 years, Sashiko has been transforming its form by accepting the change. I have seen the change, and I may have caused the change. The reason I am speaking up now, (the case some consider…

I see what is going on in the Sashiko trend – “Fantasized Sashiko”, which link to what I keep writing – we read (believe) what we want to read (believe). “Environmentally-friendly”, “Zero-waste”, “Sustainability”, “Slow-Fashion”, “Slow-Stitching”, and more. There are many keywords linked to the trend of “Sashiko”, but none of…

The origin of Sashiko is “Repairing”

The origin of Sashiko is “Repairing” At the same time, Sashiko with the purpose of decorating the fabric is also the mainstream. Sashiko isn’t only about stitching a geometric pattern. This is one of the work in past. Let your imagination fly and enjoy Sashiko! ★ 2018-07-31…

I’m still very slow but I enjoyed getting to grips with the thimble and long sashiko needle. Thank you for all your information and histories😊
