10 years ago, some of them didn’t know what “Sashiko” was. Now, they can make such a Sashiko Noragi Jacket. 10 years. It is easy to say, but it wasn’t easy years. The great fact is that this is still an on-going project, and I sincerely respect the people in the Otsuchi Sashiko Project for their continuous effort in their Sashiko.

Anyone can do Sashiko as we do. Otsuchi Sashiko is proof that anyone can learn Sashiko stitching. I teach both in-person & Online now. Please check the availability from the link on our profile.

Sashiko isn’t in the past yet. Sashiko described in books or articles as if it “was” the Japanese stitching is probably accurate, but not sufficient. 大槌刺し子と出会って10年。室内（家の中）が氷点下になり、朝食に凍ったりんごを食す……とか、スタッフが大変すぎてマヨネーズとケチャップをご飯にかけて食べている食卓に遭遇する（おかずなし）とか、今でも沢山の思い出がある大槌刺し子。10年、ずっと一緒にいた訳ではなく、距離を置いたこともあるし、僕が米国に移住してからは恵子さんが中心になって関わっています。

10年。それだけの年月だと、常に気持ちがいい事ばかりではありません。むしろみんな真剣だからこそ意見が分かれた事もあるし、苦しい時間があったことも事実です。でも、何よりも凄いのは、実際に現地で刺し子をしたり、運営をしている大槌刺し子の皆様が「10年続けている」ということ。「刺し子？」という方もいた当初から、このような野良着の刺し子ができるようになった今の大槌刺し子は、やっぱり世界に伝えていきたい刺し子の大切な一部分です。大槌刺し子に出会っていなければ、今の僕の刺し子は存在していないと言っても過言ではないのでね。

En ningún momento pensaron en que estos tengan traducción ? Lo qué suben a Instagram lo puedo traducir y me resulta muy interesante el punto de vista! Ojalá algún día podamos seguir aprendiendo acá en Sudamérica con traducción !
