Our Sashiko Story to Your Sashiko Journey

I started sharing Sashiko Stories in May 2019 due to the pain I couldn’t explain

atsushijp, 2021年9月17日

I started sharing Sashiko Stories in May 2019 due to the pain I couldn’t explain well back then (which I learned was the “Cultural Appropriation” later on). I appreciate the interest & caring to learn from the origin instead of taking “whatever” out for the convenient profit. I occasionally receive an offer for the consultation. Although I am not trained for the “consultation” particularly, I do my best to “teach” and “offer my insight” in their project & education curriculum.

☆

The most difficult process in “teaching” and “consultation” is to learn what “the students/clients” do not know. Since Sashiko has been so “ordinary” for me, I tend to minimize what I know & what I can do. How to prepare the geometric pattern (not Sashiko Pattern) is one of those. It is quite difficult to teach, but I am glad that I could make it happen. Everything has reasons in what I share, so is “how to prepare” the pattern for Sashiko.

☆

The full video of this will be available for Online Sashiko Class (21) Supplemental Materials. Many tutorials are available on Youtube (and I keep adding more). More than 130 stories about Sashiko & Japanese Culture are on Patreon (and also on Youtube). Thanks to you, class students, clients, and many others who support what I do, I can keep sharing stories instead of focusing on “selling” to make ends meet. I will keep offering the stories and more wisdom.
