Sharing the stories about Sashiko we have been practicing became my main activity (@SashikoStory). In order to be a stone in the current trend (by archiving many stories), I prioritize writing stories in English more than anything. At the same time, I also work on the actual process of “preserving” the Sashiko we practice.
☆
Can you guess what is the most important element in preserving the Sashiko culture? It is, of course, the people who (can) stitch. Therefore, slowly, little by little, I try to ask our Sashiko friends to do Stitching as “work” to make some products to be able to sell & continue the economical sustainability. I believe this is one of the essential works to support the rising Sashiko artisans.
☆
My goal is to offer a variety of “Sashiko Pieces” on our website. To be honest, it is challenging to line up all the items I have in my mind. After all, Sashiko is a hand-stitching culture. However, we gotta start from somewhere. And, this Cushion Cover with Asanoha (& other geometric) patterns is one achievement we have made so far. This summer, we made the first order. I sincerely appreciate the customer who read all the stories and made the purchase. This means a lot to us – since we can keep stitching and making more pieces. We can keep working with future Sashiko artisans.

As much as I still think it is important to learn how to transfer & draw the pattern on the fabric, we hear the requests from our customers. We invested some to come up with this “Asano-ha pattern pre-printed” fabric. The great Indigo Dye fabric for Sashiko stitching & the…
