Another weekend of pounder about Cultural Appropriation (this time, no anger). ☆

Not knowing is okay. However, we cannot do “un-know (rewind before knowing)” things. So… once they know that Sashiko/Boro is not a term for their trend, I want them to spend some time learning – instead of ignoring a (silent) voice. I get frustrated by their “choice” of “not-respecting” by weighing on “freedom” or “Art”. Isn’t it the apathy (I am learning this new term)? ☆

In my youth, I believed our Sashiko was The (only) Sashiko. I didn’t know. Later, as I grew up, I learned the ordinary of Sashiko. Therefore, I say, “there is no such a thing as Right and Wrong in Sashiko”. It is okay to “not to know”. We all are here to learn. I just want them to stop shrugging the stories behind the culture off for self-fulfillment, money-making, and being “popular”. Is it too much to ask? I guess it is in this “quick” society. ☆ – – – ☆

I have been sharing a lot in the past few years. A post once a day. Still I have a lot more to share. Everyone has a different “opinion”. I am not expecting everyone to be on the same page. At the same time, I have a strong preference in…

Sample stitching with various shades of our Variegated Colored Sashiko Thread with some samples of no-knots securing in Sashiko. Editing the photo of these colorful stitches reminded me of my father. Sashiko is definately more than stitching (more than the result if the stitching is beautiful or not). ☆ –…

When I share my “idealism”, some advise me I shouldn’t keep it so high saying “It is how it works in this society”. I understand it. “Freedom” is the most important factor in this society, and asking for respect can be too much of a demand. Everyone is different. We…

It isn’t apathy, it’s just racism. Colonization through commercialization.

I have been enjoying your posts as I believe if people want to practice (especially commercially) Sashiko, they should be addressing this issue.
