45th day of “Stay Home (since my daughter started staying home)”. The extraordinary days became somewhat the ordinary, yet it is just an adjustment and our body & mind are not as ordinary as they appear. In those extraordinary days, we breathe very shallow. “Shallowness” is not good in both learning and breathing – it can bring a lot of unexpected (often negative) outcomes. ☆
It is easy to avoid “shallowness” both in learning and breathing – just being “mindful” for breathing & learning. No complication there. When you care, you can do deeper. That’s how easy – yet many people don’t.
☆
Enjoy Sashiko & forget about the results. When you focus on the result, your breathing gets shallow. When you focus on the moment & mindful to what you do, then you “can” breathe deeply and make a good stuff – it may take 30 years to be good or 3 months to be good – it really depends what/how you learn. ☆

Regardless of my fear(pain) in Cultural Appropriation in Sashiko, I am happy to see many people get to know what Sashiko is. Although some information may be filtered/twisted, those who respect the origin will eventually reach the stories. After all, what I would like to do is to pass down…

We use various geometric patterns in our Sashiko practice. They aren’t really “Sashiko Patterns”: just Geometric Patterns we often use. When I make a video or a tutorial on how to draw them on the fabric by themselves, I do not feel I am “teaching” Sashiko. It is more like…

I understand we are scared. I am worried as well. We should prepare for it. However, the best thing we can do now is to keep the “ordinary”. There are people who committed their life into the field we are now worried about. I would rather trust them than search…

🤗 i look forward to reading your posts…it does seem odd (but too often the case) for me to breathe other than a shallow, fearful manner. thank-you for reminding me…+ getting out my Sashiko… ☆your daughter has a wise and caring role model/father/ teacher 💙
