I’ve been thinking about what I can offer in this situation. Well, first thing first. The health of our friends, customers & family is the priority. I continue being a father (teacher, chef, stitcher, rival, and the best friend to her). On top of that, I would like to offer something.
☆
First, I will post once per day here – with positive message I can come up with. It would be great if you could read the message with beautiful photos. (I apologize for not being able to reply, but I enjoy reading the comments. Thank you.)
☆
Second, we started a new Boro-To-Be project. In this Boro, we try to document most of the process – I don’t know how long it takes, but we try our best to take photos & explain how we make Boro. The detail will be shared on Patreon (to avoid any unwanted discussion).
☆
Third, I am offering the “Online Sashiko Class” with a special deal. In order to learn the Sashiko we practice, a good amount of time in stitching is very much recommended. For the detail, please check the link on the profile, or visit upcyclestitches.com. ☆
I mean what I say. For those who took my Sashiko workshop in person for full length (more than 3 hours), I am offering the free opportunity to refresh their learning by watching the Online Class Videos. If you are interested & please contact me with the email you signed up for the workshop. The details can be found from the link on the profile as well. For those who took the Online Sashiko Class, I am extending the subscription indefinitely. I will add the videos based on your request & questions. Please come back to the videos if you would like to refresh the learning. ☆
Sashiko is NOT essential to survive. However, for some of us, Sashiko (or moving hand) is essential to be who we are. I wish I could do everything for everyone without asking for fees… but I am alone in my business & a father of 5 years old. I will do everything I can to keep us smiling.

“Silence is gold, speech is silver (Carlyle,Thomas)”. ”Who knows most, speaks least.(P. Lovesey)”, “Brevity is the soul of wit (Shakespeare)”. All of the proverbs are great – Zen teaches us, the truth exists in practice – not in words. However, these proverbs require one condition – that we are on…

I have been telling people that our needle’s eye is too small to put through 2 threads. Well, a student in the workshop did it (with misunderstandings my comments) and I followed her acheivement. Yes. I did it. I could put through 2 threads. Never put the limit without trying…

A title for this Sashiko would be “Japanese Ocean in November” – with Hishi Seikaiha & Amimon Patterns. We have reasons why we mostly use geometric patterns instead of pictorial pattern (like Fuji Mt. – I am NOT saying it is wrong to stitch a pictorial pattern and call it…

This message warms my heart. Of course you have to earn money to make a living! This is a time to support the self-employed and small businesses if we can. Also, I think for many people who do creative things with their hands, their art or craft is a way to deal with difficult times – it keeps us sane. That’s why I love watching what other makers are making, now more than ever. It is a welcome distraction to be able to look at beautiful creations like yours.

PS I think the word “slave” is maybe not the best word to use because it makes people remember a very dark time in Western history. If you mean that you serve your family or work to serve others, I would suggest using the word “servant” instead. Just my thought as an English teacher! I unfortunately don’t speak your language, so I don’t know how that translates. But I think the word “slave” has some very negative connotations, and that doesn’t seem to fit with the rest of your message. I hope that’s clear!
