“Threads Magazine” issued in 1988! My dear friend found this on E-market and got it for me. So sweet of her. I have my own Sashiko in my experience. However, I keep telling myself to doubt my understanding. There is always an addition to the Sashiko I would like to pass down. She knows how I approach Sashiko & this was a great gift. ☆

In 1988, I was the same age as my daughter today. 5 Years old. I remember running in & out of the Sashiko store. As you can see, the thimble was quite important back in 1988. Then, I found my family business’s thread there. The blueprint I had seen in my childhood… Sashiko may be a trend for you. However, please know that there are people behind the “word” you are using. 32 years ago, Sashiko was already introduced in English way before the trend started in early 2000. Some of my followers may know this since they have more than 30 years of experience in Japan & US textile. ☆ – – – ☆

Following the previous post – about my sincere advice. The Tread MATTERs. Over time, the Japanese developed the thread for Sashiko purpose. It isn’t sold in major craft stores. It may be slightly more expensive than the other thread. However, if there is a crystal of wisdom, why don’t we…

I am sharing a series of Sashiko Stories here in my second language because of unfortunate misunderstandings of Sashiko in English. The misinterpretation happens because of the difference in our “Common Sense (Expectation to others)”. Therefore, please read what is written here instead of what you think I would write….

Occasionally, I come across a discussion on SNS about “Which side do we stitch Sashiko? (Stitching on Back/Wrong side or not)”. As you may know, in most Sashiko projects, we stitch while looking at the backside of the fabric. That’s 99% of my Live Streaming. We look at the front…
