| I asked my Japanese Sashiko friends to share their photos with the tag. I have my own Sashiko. This journey is NOT to define my Sashiko as the Sashiko. It is a process of sharing how the Japanese enjoy Sashiko – which may be different from the current trend. I will keep asking the Japanese to share their Sashiko. ☆
I appreciate your worry and concern. As I keep saying, here is the answer. When you wonder if you are disrespectful to the Japanese Sashiko, then you are NOT. Don’t worry. The time you “wonder” about what you do is already a good sign of respect. I have been SUPER open to the free interpretation of Sashiko. I haven’t changed my point of view. (Please read our website to understand how we consider Cultural Appropriation in Sashiko). ☆
There is A LOT to share. The common sense in Japan is a unique and attractive mindset for non-Japanese. I share our wisdom here and there, but the place I am focusing on the best is on Patreon – where I know everyone is willing to learn. I am tired of seeing many Japanese words superficially understood. Wabi-Sabi is not equal to beauty in imperfection – it is MUCH MORE than that.
