Beautiful Kinchaku (drawstring bag) with hand-stitched Sashiko on Indigo Dyed Cotton Fabric. I am very happy to have them here in the US.

This account “SashiCo” is to share the Sashiko we practice. Keiko and her friends make the Sashiko pieces, and I (Atsushi) introduce them while I enjoy Sashiko as well. I started teaching Sashiko in late 2016. Since then, it is our privilege to have so many “artisans friends” after them learning from us. One day, “SashiCo” will be a group of artisans connected via sharing Sashiko. We named Sashi”Co” with hoping that “Co” will represent, community, communicate, collaborate, and colorful. I am very glad that things are moving forward as we have expected. I am preparing the website to introduce each artisan. Wait for the update. ☆

Nanaさんより刺し子巾着を預かりました。何個かは僕の日常使い用です。インターネットを通してご縁を頂いて、実際に会ったこと無いのにも関わらず、こうして信用頂き、一緒に刺し子を紹介していけること。心より嬉しいことだと思っています。大風呂敷を広げがちな僕なので、丁寧に一人ずつお声がけさせて頂いています。100人のお友達と一緒に日本の刺し子を海外で紹介するのが夢です。

SashiCoの”Co”には、実は「一緒に」という強い意味が込められています。コミュニティ、会話する、協力する。ラテン語の語源ですが、Co-には「共に」という意味があるのです。刺し子は孤独な作業になりがちです。でも、決して「一人」じゃないんです。それは昔も一緒で、心と時間を共にして刺し子をされていた方々の営みの結晶が今に残っていると思っています。少しずつ。でも確実に。毎回偉そうなことを言っているのですが、やっぱり根本はこの「Co」の気持ちです。気楽に話しかけて下さいね（笑）。怖くないよ（たぶん）。

写真とは関係ないのですが、今年の夏にインスタで長文を書くようになってから、タグを意識しておりませんでした。僕たちの刺し子を残すために、タグも意識します！よかったら皆さんも使って下さいな〜！
