“Not knowing” is perfectly fine. We are all here to learn. Again, what I do not

atsushijp, 2019年8月22日

“Not knowing” is perfectly fine. We are all here to learn. Again, what I do not accept is “Intentional Ignorance” which is “knowing yet not respecting”. If today is the first day that you learn Sashiko is from Japan, I appreciate you reading it and hopefully you will learn something Japanese in Sashiko. 99.9% of the people I come across respect the Japanese-ness behind Sashiko. However, I had met those who use the word of Sashiko yet not caring the Japanese courtesy. Those people are the reason I switched the platform to Patreon. I am tired of wasting time to those with intentional ignorance. ☆
It is a matter of “attitude”. It is our (Japanese) responsibility to share good information to encourage the attitude.

20x speeded video of Sashiko Stitching on a Coaster size fabric. I completed Sashiko in 45 minutes or so in yesterday’s live streaming, and made it to 1:30 short video. I realize that I spend a lot of time in “Non-Sashiko” process such as rotating the fabric & smoothing the…

Where can I learn more? I’ve seen your work here, and my teacher taught me about the origin of Sashiko, but I know there is much more!

This is so important because there is so much appropriation of Japanese culture, particularly in America and the west. We must speak up about it. Thank you @sashi.co
