Fabrics (clothing) carry memories. ☆

Fabrics (clothing) carry memories. ☆
I Sashiko stitched her denim before she became a mother. After the pregnancy, the denim was no longer appropriate for her life. She and I completely shifted our priority in life, us to our daughter. Being parents in non-mother country was more difficult than we expected. It was always 3 of us, and we just focused on survival and providing the very best care for her we can imagine. ☆
After 4 years of parenting, we start finding our own time. Now, she can wear the denim with Sashiko stitching again. She would continue wearing it, and I will be here to mend, if necessary. ☆
Clothing carry memories. The message I can pass down to my racially and ethnically mixed precious daughter. Race, Ethnicity, Color, and Cultures – we are all different but we are the same as human who enjoy memories. So clothing, fabric, and stitching is more than just “result.” It is more than that.
☆

☆ – – – ☆ As I introduced a concept of Japanese craftsmanship yesterday, some part of me wants to follow the “strict” tradition – learn by watching. One of the offers I came up with is the Sashiko Live Streaming, where people can watch me doing Sashiko without…

[Announcement]  (1) I restored the Youtube video of yesterday’s live streaming. I talk about “Sustainability and Sashiko”. I rewatched it and found it interesting (although it was my talking…). Check it out. (2) I appreciate all the Sashiko supply orders. Under Covid-19, in order to complete the international shipping, all…

Wow that sent chills down my spine💗So lovely! It truly does take that long, if not more, to find our own time as parents. I hear you! Clothing is second skin, another layer of ourselves which we choose to adorn ourselves with accordance to the day, our mood, our activities…
