Continued a bit of whining (Part.1)
☆
I occasionally get the question like “I cannot stitch like you do. What am I doing wrong?”. Do they expect me to answer that types of questions over email for free? We have more than 30 years of experience, and the person is expecting to “get it” by just sending a question? ☆
Sashiko isn’t something fancy. Everyone can do that. However, those “everyone” is someone who decide to invest either (hopefully both) time and money. I am not talking about thousands of dollars and/or years of practicing. I would say, with proper understandings, 6~12 months (or less) practicing with taking our workshop will open up the Sashiko possibility to infinite. Some of graduates who took our workshop proof that. They don’t need our direction anymore. They are as inspiring as we are now. ☆
One of the biggest disappointment I get is that those people who ask random questions do not even use the materials I strongly and sincerely recommend on our website. There are reasons we use the specific tool and supply. I am not saying, “I hate questions”. I am saying, please try to spend some time first before asking questions, or if you don’t have time, jump into the workshops or Online Class. I understand that we are very busy in this society. The workshop & online class is for those who have limited time so I can be supportive very closely. Please respect Sashiko and its culture… as you would do to the other culture and professions. ☆

This is a follow-up of the previous post just in case the “wordplay” didn’t reach your attention (please read yesterday’s post first). In contrast to Western “God” in Monotheism, Japanese believe(d) “Gods(spirits)” exist in every matter. Throughout the “wordplay”, we can learn how they would appreciate the existence of spirit…

When a Japanese person hears the word “Sashiko” today, they probably would think of a cloth of Fukin – on the white Sarashi fabric with colorful threads & beautiful patterns. We sometimes call it “Hana-Fukin”. In my understanding, it is absolutely one style of Sashiko. However, you can tell that…

While waiting for my daughter, I registered the App “Threads” without thinking much. Now, I am not sure what is a good way to use it… Umm… For me, as an Early Millennial Generation, SNS is a bit of “too much” to use. Instagram, Facebook, Threads… these are from the…

A friend of mine who paints outside is often asked “how long does it take to paint that painting?” He replies 30 years 6monthes 5 days and 45 minutes. The implication is that process maybe as simple as a running stitch, but the muscle memory, the experience, the immersion in process takes time. Well said, I think it’s important to preserve the integrity of cultural processes as well.
