15 Sashiko artisans (Atsushi’s students/friends) stitching Keiko’s original pattern on large piece of fabric, then we patchwork everything into one Sashiko Jacket. I don’t know the exact word in English for this, but it is a product of “Goen (ご縁) – our paths crossed magically”. It is a big challenge for us since Sashiko usually is for the individual project. Our goal is to share Sashiko. In order to do so, connecting people with its philosophy is very important, we thought. This is the first one. I (Atsushi) would like to expand it. Wish us luck the success so we can move to the next one. The similar pattern on the same fabric with the same thread by 2 artisans. So different and both of them are so beautiful. 日本語から英語に上手に約せない言葉の一つに、「ご縁」というものがあります。”Fate”とか”Destiny”が一番近いかな……（FateとDistinyの違いは自分の力が及ぶかどうか）とは思うのですが、でも「ご縁」と「運命」は一緒ではないと思うのです。オンラインで刺し子を教えるというご縁で繋がり、そして一緒に刺し子を楽しんでいるというご縁から作られる刺し子ジャケット。全ての一部が必要であり、またその一部が「刺し子を楽しむ」の全てであるという面白い作品です。なんだこの禅問答みたいな文章は（笑）

面倒くさい僕の頭の中は横において、純粋に「15人の刺し子が一つになる」という作品を楽しみにして頂けたら。刺し子をして頂いた布は、しっかりとお名前と一緒に写真に残し、思いを繋げます。似た模様。似た刺し子糸の色。それでもどうしてこれほどまでに違いが出てくるのだろう。そしてどちらが良いとかじゃなく、全てが素晴らしいのです。いやはや。詳細は sashico.com にも記載しております。
